Setting Up a Consulting Tenant
Choosing consulting_basic or consulting_pro, creating your first client accounts
If you're a consulting firm that manages RPA automation for multiple clients, a consulting tenant lets you monitor all your clients from a single platform with proper data isolation.
Consulting vs. Direct
| Feature | Direct | Consulting |
|---|---|---|
| Typically 1 (your organization) | Multiple (one per client) | |
| 1 | 10 | |
| Available but less common | Core to the workflow | |
| Yes | No (local auth for client users) | |
| Via tenant admin | Via tenant admin + consultant |
Registering as a Consulting Tenant
1. Go to the RPA Watch registration page
2. Fill in your consulting firm's details
3. Under Tenant Type, select Consulting
4. Complete registration
You'll be signed in as a Tenant Admin with a 14-day trial. A default account is created automatically — you can use it as your internal workspace or rename it for your first client.
Consulting Tiers
| Tier | Account Limit | Client User Access | License |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Default account only | Limited | |
| 10+ (configurable) | All accounts | Full |
Consulting Basic
- Clients can only be invited to the default account
- Good for firms starting out with a few clients
- Upgrade to Pro when you need full multi-account client access
Consulting Pro
- Clients can be invited to any account
- Full AllowClientAccess feature enabled
- Suitable for larger consulting operations
First Steps After Registration
1. Create Client Accounts
For each client you manage:
1. Go to Accounts in the sidebar
2. Click Create Account
3. Name it after your client (e.g., "Acme Corp")
4. Choose the RPA tool your client uses
See [Managing Client Accounts](/docs/managing-client-accounts) for details.
2. Configure RPA Credentials
Each client account can connect to a different RPA tool:
1. Switch to the client's account context
2. Go to Account Settings
3. Configure the RPA tool credentials (Robomotion, UiPath, etc.)
3. Invite Your Team
Invite consultants who will monitor client processes:
1. Go to Tenant Members
2. Invite team members with the Consultant role
3. Assign them to specific client processes
See [Consultant Access & Process Assignment](/docs/consultant-access) for details.
4. Invite Client Users (Optional)
If clients need direct access to view their own data:
1. Switch to the client's account
2. Go to Members
3. Invite client users with the Account User or Account Admin role
4. Client users can only see their own account's data
Authentication for Client Users
In consulting tenants, client users (account-level roles) must use local authentication (email/password). They cannot use Entra ID SSO.
This restriction ensures:
- Each client's identity is managed independently
- No cross-client authentication leaks
- Client users don't need access to your corporate Entra ID
Your consulting team (tenant-level roles) can still use Entra ID for their own sign-in.
